Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—these Prawn & Pork Wantons are shaped like golden ingots (元宝), making them the ultimate must-have dish for Chinese New Year. Each bite is filled with sweet prawns and savoury pork, wrapped and fried till perfectly golden—because if you’re welcoming prosperity, it might as well be delicious.
Ingredients:
500g Tiger Prawn, chopped
300g minced pork/ chicken, chopped
6-8 sprig of spring onion, chopped
1 tsp Tsuyu sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1/3 tsp salt
1/3 tsp white pepper
wanton wrappers
cooking oil - for frying
3-4 tbsp thai chilli sauce
1/2 cup Japanese mayo
Steps:
1. In a mixing bowl, mix chopped tiger prawn, minced meat & spring onion

2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Mix well until the filling is evenly seasoned and slightly sticky (takes around 5 minutes)
3. Lay wanton wrapper flat on a clean surface and scoop about 1 tsp filling onto the centre of each wanton wrapper
4. Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Bring the corners together and pinch to seal, forming a pyramid-shaped like nugget (or any shape you prefer).

5. Heat cooking oil in a deep pan and fry wantons until golden brown and crispy.
6. Remove and drain on kitchen towel to remove excess oil.

7. Combine Thai chilli oil with Japanese mayo to create a rich, umami dipping sauce.
7. Serve hot and enjoy!
