Echigo Ikarashigawa Daiginjo Genshu by Fukugao
Admittedly, we're no pros when it comes to Sakes (we're excellent at drinking though, or so we think...) So we got a jet-setter friend, who's also a hard core Sake drinker, to recommend her favourite Sakes.
Not just Sakes that she'd love to drink, but Sakes that she'd be willing to hand carry home for friends and family.
We were then introduced to the Fukugao Brewery, a multiple award-winning Sake brewery based in the prefecture of fine rice -- Niigata.
The rest is history. (Story ends here because we drank too much. On another note, please drink responsibly!)
About Fukugao Brewery:
Shouji Kobayashi, the first head of Fukugao Sake Brewery founded the business in 1897. He aspired to make people happy with sake, to make exceptional sake that could not help but make people smile. In short, making sake that makes the face express delight. The second-generation Shouji Kobayashi inherited the aspirations of the first Shouji Kobayashi as the household motto and fundamental spirit of sake brewing in the Kobayashi family, which have passed to the fifth-generation head today.
